[edit]Secondary school grants

All students above age 18 are entitled to a free grant regulated partly by the income of their parents if they are below age 20. The basic rate for students living on their own and older than 20 is 4,724 DKK (about $810) a month.

[edit]University grants

When a student starts at a university or other another kind of Higher education they are entitled to SU for a maximum of six years. As all university education, with the exception of medicine takes five years inDenmark it allowed the student to take one year more on their studies than nominated, or to change theirmajor during their first year without economic consequences.

[edit]Student loans

If needed, the student may supplement this with a student loan of 2,418 DKK (about US$415) that has to be repaid when the student has completed his or her education. Thus a student will normally receive about 56,688 DKK (about US$9,735) a year in grants with an optional 29,016 DKK (about US$4,985) in loans, making a total of 85,704 DKK (about US$14,720).

The governmentally granted SU loans, will need to be repaid after end education of course, but the part of the loan that have not been repaid after 15 years will be “saneret”. Meaning that it will not have to be repaid at all.

[edit]Tuition

All education in Denmark ranging from primary school, the Danish equivalent of High SchoolGymnasiums as well as Universities and all other officially recognised forms of Higher education are completely free of change. In fact, the Danish language does not even have a word for "tuition fee."

[edit]Post-tertiary education

Ph.d. level education is the only kind of education in Denmark that does not have universal grants. Instead a limited number of grants are given each year by the universities for projects that are considered the best.
